Lately there is a large lamber of augmented reality applications and platforms that work on mobile smartphones and tablets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The applications are using a number of hardware components in order to produce the augmented reality environment. These include: screen, camera, GPS, compass, accelerometer, RFID reader etc. These are used together to identify the user\u2019s location and field of view as well as understand its physical environment characteristics. From the collected data a number of calculations take place and\u00a0 geographical position, direction, screen picture and the other various forms of data are laid over the camera view, like inserting an additional layer of visual information over your screen picture.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.allaboutsymbian.com\/images\/news\/software\/liveview\/1.jpg?resize=501%2C281\" alt=\"http:\/\/www.allaboutsymbian.com\/images\/news\/software\/liveview\/1.jpg\" width=\"501\" height=\"281\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The most well known platforms\/applications are:<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wikitude.com\/\">Wikitude<\/a><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wikitude was the world\u2019s very first Augmented Reality Browser for smartphones in 2008.
