Autechre – Gantz Graf<\/strong><\/p>\n

Autechre is an English electronic music group consisting of Rob Brown and Sean Booth, both natives of Rochdale (near Manchester, England). The group are one of the most prominent acts signed with Warp Records, a label known for its pioneering electronic music artists. Some journalists and fans consider Autechre to be a paragon of IDM, though Brown and Booth themselves do not consider their sound to belong to any genre.<\/p>\n

Boards of Canada (BOC) – Aquarius<\/strong><\/p>\n

Boards of Canada is an electronic music duo from Scotland, composed of brothers Michael Sandison (b. 10 June 1969) and Marcus Eoin Sandison (b. 21 September 1970). They have released a number of works, most notably Music Has the Right to Children and Geogaddi, with little advertising and few interviews – like many of their label-mates on the pioneering electronic music label Warp.
\nBoards of Canada have had an enormous influence on the ambient and idm scenes. They have frequently made reference to the warm, scratchy, artificial sounds of 1970’s television<\/p>\n

Plaid – Itsu<\/strong><\/p>\n

Plaid are British electronic music duo Andy Turner & Ed Handley. Taking their name from the different interweaving threads of plaid cloth. They are former members of The Black Dog and used many other names (such as Atypic and Balil) before settling on Plaid<\/p>\n

Gus Gus – Polyesterday<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gus Gus (or GusGus) is a band from Reykjav\u00edk, Iceland. They were founded in 1995.<\/p>\n

m\u00fam (pronounced “moom,” with the band’s name generally written in all lowercase) is an experimental Icelandic musical group whose music offers a delicate mixture of glitch electronica, chamber instruments (accordion, trumpet, bells, clarinet, violin, piano) and atmospheric vocals.
\nThe band formed in 1997. Its original members were Gunnar \u00d6rn Tynes, \u00d6rvar \u00de\u00f3reyjarson Sm\u00e1rason, and twin sisters Gy\u00f0a Valt\u00fdsd\u00f3ttir and Krist\u00edn Anna Valt\u00fdsd\u00f3ttir. In 2002, Gy\u00f0a left the band to return to her studies in Reykjav\u00edk.<\/p>\n

Funkst\u00f6rung – Punk motherfucker<\/strong><\/p>\n

Funkst\u00f6rung (pronounced “foonk-steuroong”): German for aural interference, also a play on words “funk” = radio “st\u00f6rung” = distortion Distorted funk indeed. Rosenheim, Germany’s production duo Michael Fakesch and Chris De Luca have an unforgettably unique and recognizable sound. First found on a compilation of their remixes entitled Additional Productions (1999), then on their Appetite for Disctruction (April 2000) full-length debut, Funkst\u00f6rung’s unrivaled vocal-splicing, groove-shredding, taste-proliferating style is equally strong on Vice Versa – their second compilation of remixes to date<\/p>\n

Arovane – Lilies – Merlin<\/strong><\/p>\n

Berlin’s Uwe Zahn released his first tracks as the Arovane EP on the Din label, which also released the first of German dub minimalist Stefan Betke’s work as Pole. Stylistically, Arovane’s work hearkens back to the insular melodic electro of early Autechre, combining interesting, highly syncopated machine box rhythms with warm, delicate synth textures that evoke a gauzy, somewhat nostalgic mood contrasted by the sharpness of the rhythms.<\/p>\n

Monolake – Linear<\/strong><\/p>\n

Monolake was formed in 1995 as the duo of Gerhard Behles and Robert Henke, although on later albums the group consisted of Henke alone, with Behles focusing his time on running the Ableton software company. Their sound can generally be described as minimal techno filled with nice touch of fine tech dub, although the 1999 Gobi. The Desert EP, which contains a single 37-minute atmospheric piece, is a notable exception. Monolake first released an album and several 12″s on Berlin’s Chain Reaction label, then on Monolake\/Imbalance Computer Music, which is operated by Robert Henke. 2005’s<\/p>\n
