This is an interesting public conversation between Simon Critchley and Alain Badiou that took place on November 15, 2007 at Slought foundation. It features a first session were Simon Critchley outlines his thoughts about democracy and disappointment as presented on his recent book (Infinitely Demanding: Ethics of Commitment, Politics of Resistance). His analysis is based on his quasi-Levinasian, Badiouan, Lacanian and Kantian ideas about ethics, politics and philosophy and he is mainly interested in the politics of resistance-military neoliberalism, neo leninism, neo anarchism. ... First of all, the question of argumentation. We are here in order to discuss, and in order to exchange arguments as clear, univocal and communicable as possible. On the other hand, the question that is often raised on the subject of deconstruction is that of argumentation. I am reproached-deconstructionists are reproached-with not arguing or not liking argumentation, etc., etc. This is obviously a defamation. But this defamation derives from the fact that there is argumentation and argumentation, and this is often because in contexts of discussion like the present one where the prepositional form, a certain type of prepositional form, governs, and where a certain type of micrology is necessarily effaced, where the attention to language is necessarily reduced, argumentation is clearly essential. Ιδεολογία σε μια μεταϊδεολογική εποχή; Ο κυνισμός ως μια μορφή ιδεολογίας Τον πλέον στοιχειώδη ορισμό της ιδεολογίας ενδεχομένως να τον προσφέρει η αρκετά γνωστή φράση από το «Κεφάλαιο» του Μαρξ: “Sie wissen das nicht, aber sie tune s” - «Δεν το ξέρουν αυτό, μα το κάνουν». Η ίδια η έννοια της ιδεολογίας ενέχει ένα είδος βασικής, καταστατικής naϊvete (αφέλειας): την παραγνώριση των ίδιων της των προϋποθέσεων, των ίδιων των πραγματικών όρων της, μιαν απόσταση, μιαν απόκλιση ανάμεσα στην αποκαλούμενη κοινωνική πραγματικότητα και στη στρεβλή παράσταση που έχουμε γι' αυτήν, στην ψευδή συνείδησή μας.
